Contemporary Jade Jewellery by The Village Goldsmith & Mountain Jade
Mountain Jade are a New Zealand-based family-run business that has been handcrafting jade carvings since 1981. Founder John Sheehan selected his finest pieces of jade from New Zealand and around the world and hand-carved them into pieces he knew were destined for something special.
The Village Goldsmith founder, Ian Douglas, took inspiration from these prized pieces of jade and designed jewellery in 18 carat yellow and white gold, accented with diamonds and rubies. Each design tells a story of the jade’s significance and beauty by complementing the natural shape and characteristics of the carving.
The jade jewellery is handmade by our jewellers in our Wellington workshop and we are excited to share them with you. We believe the partnership with Mountain Jade is the perfect fit as it brings together the best in jade carving and jewellery craftsmanship, underpinned by our shared values of the finest quality and design. The results are items of jewellery that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Both Ian Douglas and John Sheehan, founders of The Village Goldsmith and Mountain Jade respectively, were motivated by a shared vision to bring New Zealand artistry and craftsmanship to new heights.
You can find this collection of jade jewellery at the Mountain Jade store in the Auckland International Airport. You can read about the design inspiration and provenance of each piece below and if you would like to find out more about The Jade Collection, please get in touch.
