A story about a bespoke memorial pendant to honour Pippi 🐶
As many fur baby owners know, when a beloved companion leaves us, the space they leave behind can feel immeasurable. For some, they are no different to their own children. Their absence is deeply felt, and the memories they leave us with become all the more precious.
Among the most meaningful projects for us at The Village Goldsmith are memorial pieces. Jewellery created to honour those who remain forever close to our hearts. When Rebecca came to us to create a memorial pendant for her beloved boxer, Pippi, we knew it would be an incredibly personal project. Pippi was much more than a cherished family dog, she was part of a lifelong connection with the boxer breed that spans generations. Rebecca's grandmother-in-law, Pam, bred and trained boxers during World War Two, and the family's story with these remarkable dogs was even captured in a published memoir.
To help honour Pippi's memory, Rebecca incorporated a deeply personal detail, Pippi’s paw print. Working closely with Rebecca, our senior designer Courtney and our CAD team refined every detail to ensure the design felt just right. Rebecca also brought in a treasured piece of jewellery to be repurposed and incorporated into the pendant. The emeralds and diamonds from this piece now adorn Pippi's paw print, creating a connection between past memories and a loved companion who will never be forgotten 💚
As animal lovers ourselves, this project resonated deeply with everyone involved. We understood how much this pendant would mean to Rebecca and the responsibility that comes with creating something so personal. Today, Pippi's pendant serves as a reminder of a much-loved companion and the joy, loyalty, and wonderful memories she brought to her family. It is a piece that can be held close every day and a special tribute that will endure for generations in honour of a very special family member 🦮
