Our team of in-house jewellers at The Village Goldsmith specialise in bespoke jewellery design and manufacture, remodelling and restoration of fine jewellery. We can only provide jewellery repair services for jewellery purchased from our store. Our workshop is at capacity with the amount of bespoke and remodelling work so we are unable to take in repairs on other jewellery.
We can recommend financing your engagement ring purchase through Gem Visa or Gilrose Finance. Both of these services can easily be applied for online. You can see their websites for more information. Due to rules set by New Zealand Customs, tax free purchases are not eligible for financing options.
Don’t worry. We will arrange for it to be resized by one of our experienced jewellers so it fits perfectly. Remember that there are many reasons for your finger size changing such as aging, climate and weight changes. We recommend that you wait a couple of days to double check that the ring still doesn’t fit. Also, let us know if you’re planning to lose weight as some rings cannot be resized easily. Please note that your warranty will be voided if the ring is resized by jewellers other than The Village Goldsmith.

Our beautiful Auckland Design Studio offers a wide range of services and is by appointment only so it is important to book in a time with us before you visit.
Yes because we are designing and manufacturing jewellers we can do commission pieces. So please ask us if you have any special requests.
It will take approximately 3 - 6 weeks to handcraft your piece. However if you have an urgent request we will do everything possible to accommodate you. For in stock items that do not require sizing we will notify you of the timeframes. In most cases if the item does not require resizing, it will be shipped to you on the next working day.

Items shipped within New Zealand can be delivered to a P.O. Box or to a selected Post Office.
For International shipping items cannot be delivered to a Post Office or P.O. Box, however items can be collected from your local FedEx Depot.
We can! Under traditional jewellery manufacturing process this was never a possibility, but our patented Floeting Diamond technology allows a diamond to be set without any claws or clasps covering the face-up view of the diamond. Learn more here.
Hearts and arrows are what can be seen in a diamond through a special viewing machine. Essentially they reflect excellent symmetry but don’t always necessarily reflect a well cut diamond. We first recommend looking for a diamond with a high cut grade then, in many cases, the symmetry will also be very good which will allow you to see hearts and arrows.
It is entirely up to you and what you can afford. Commonly it has been said in recent years that a good guide is one - two months’ salary. Spend as much as you're comfortable with but have regard for the fact that your partner will be wearing it for the rest of their life. Given that we are manufacturing jewellers we can work to your budget and will make sure you get the best diamond ring possible for a competitive price.

Yes we do. Because we are designing and manufacturing jewellers, we can make wedding bands customised to engagement rings.

Yes we certainly can. If you have a higher or lower budget we can work with you to find the best possible diamond within your budget.
If you are really wanting to surprise her here’s one option:
Find a costume ring that you know fits on her ring finger. Then put it onto one of your fingers and work out where it stops on the finger. Once you have ordered a ring from The Village Goldsmith we will send you a free ring sizer. You can then check which ring fits on your ring finger in the same place. Then tell us her size and we will handcraft it for you.
