Climbing Ivy is designed as an abstraction of nature and a reflection of natural form, inspired by channelling the phenomenon of a climbing ivy’s growth. The goal of this ring is to portray how natural shape takes place from environmental pressures. No true natural form ever creates a perfect shape. This is why, at first, the ring’s curving lines of yellow gold appear to the viewer as symmetrical on both sides of the yellow diamond. However, if you look at the structure of the ring you will see it has been made purposefully asymmetrical, yet has balance through intricately crafted weighting.
This ring features a stunning 0.74ct pear shaped fancy yellow diamond which sits atop the handcrafted coils and turns of glimmering 18ct yellow gold.

“I cannot recommend this small independent Wellington business highly enough. I have purchased three rings from them since discovering their jewellery on a visit to New Zealand in 2012 and love their contemporary design and style. On my last visit from Scotland, I had the pleasure of meeting Ian Douglas and listening to him talk about where he gets the inspiration for his designs was just wonderful. Quite simply, the quality of workmanship, attention to detail and customer service at The Village Goldsmith are second to none. If I could give them a higher rating I would.” - Sandra Inglis
