The beautiful radiant cut diamond was resting loose on my desk and the sun was shining in. The stone was dispersing and spreading light into shafts and rays of brilliance. It was those rays that I wanted to capture into lines of metal that would wrap back around the stone to hold it as a ring on the hand. The light has been turned into metal, an extension of the diamond itself.
The facets of light reflecting off this radiant cut diamond are reminiscent of the shards of light created from the unique architecture of the Hearst Tower in Manhattan, New York.
